Berkshire’s History With Guinness
In 1991 Berkshire acquired 31.2 million shares of Guinness PLC, maker of the famous namesake stout beer, for just under $265 million. Berkshire only owned the shares for a few years. Not long afterward, Guinness became part of the now-global behemoth, Diageo.
Fun at the BRK AGM!
In thinking of BRK connections to Ireland, I was reminded of the time I met Kathy Ireland at the 2019 BRK annual meeting. She was accompanying some of the Blumkin family around the exhibit hall and was kind enough to stop for a short chat and a photo. She’s come a long way from her supermodel days to become a business owner and leader.
