Just a few things to pass along this week. I plan to do a few Watchlist updates in August. Probably HIFS, CRL, and maybe beer. We’ll see. I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Watchlist Company News
Beer Industry: Bud Light slips to #3. Modelo retains the top spot. (WSJ Link)
Berkshire: BNSF’s partnership with JB Hunt is going great in terms of reliability. Now they need the freight market to pick back up. (Link)
Creightons, PLC: CRL released its year-end results yesterday. The company took a charge on Emma Hardie (disappointing), but it still generated a cash profit amid ongoing challenges. I just wish they’d repurchase stock instead of paying a dividend. (Link)
Other Interesting News / Links
New accounting standards: The WSJ reports that companies will need to disclose more details on their expenses. (Link)
Vance connection to BRK: This is admittedly a Kevin Bacon-style connection, but the Republican VP pick’s wife worked at Munger, Tolls & Olson. Small world.
